Franco Burgersdicius
Franco Burgersdijk (Burgersdicius). Born: near Delft, 3 May 1590. Died: Leiden, 19 February, 1635. Dutch neo-Artistotelian philosopher, and Professor of philosophy, logic, and ethics at the University of Leiden. He was appointed to this position in 1620 by the orthodox party, represented by the house of Orange (and orthodox Calvinism), who were trying to consolidate power in their political-religious struggle with the oligarchy of Holland (and Arminianism). Her wrote compendia for scholastic philosophy that were widely used throughout Protestant Europe
