Gaspard Monge, French Mathematician
Gaspard Monge (1746-1818) was a French mathematician, revolutionary, and inventor of descriptive geometry. During the French Revolution, he was involved in the complete reorganization of the educational system, founding the Ecole Polytechnique. He also served as minister of the Marine during the revolution. His is one of the 72 names of scientists inscribed on the Eiffel Tower
