Grandma Moses
Grandma Moses (Anna Mary Robertson) (1860 - 1961), was a farmer's wife who began painting in her seventies. She lived in New York and her work began to receive recognition in the late 1930's. Her paintings depict American rural life. She received no formal training and received many awards for her artwork. She even appeared on the TV show See It Now with Ed Murrow. When she was 100 she illustrated an edition of The Night Before Christmas by Clemente Moore
