1959 eruption of Kilauea Volcano, during the fifteenth phase of activity in Kilauea Iki Crater, on December 17, 1959. A 1900-foot-high fountain roars out of the vent and is splashing the entire area with liquid spatter, as viewed from the crater rim opposite the vent
