Niels Ryberg Finsen, Danish Physician
Niels Ryberg Finsen (1860-1904) was a Danish physician and scientist of Viking Icelander descent. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine and Physiology in 1903. Finsen is best known for his theory of phototherapy, in which certain wavelengths of light can have beneficial medical effects
