Robert Millikan, American Physicist
Robert Millikan (1868-1953) was an American physicist. Millikan made many large discoveries in the fields of electricity, optics and molecular physics, including accurately determining the charge carried by an electron. He wrote many books while working as a professor at the University of Chicago, including textbooks that simplified the teaching of physics. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1923. Millikan died of a heart attack at his home in 1953 at age 85
