Saturn's Rings
Image of Saturn taken on 25 June 2023, by the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope. Saturn appears darker than usual at this infrared wavelength, as methane gas absorbs most of the sunlight falling on the atmosphere. Its icy rings remain bright, lending to the unusual appearance of Saturn in the Webb image. This image was taken as part of Webb Guaranteed Time Observation program 1247
