Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) operates in a geosynchronous orbit around Earth to obtain a continuous view of the Sun. In this image Active Region 13229 (upper left limb of solar disk) ignites a X2.2 flare viewed here from SDO/AIA filter 171 angstroms. The point-spread function correction (PSF) is applied to all imagery in this series
