Tengmalm's owl (Aegolius funereus) from La galerie des oiseaux du Cabinet d'histoire naturelle du Jardin du roi, 1834 edition, written by Louis Pierre Vieillot, with plates by Paul Louis Oudart. Vieillot, a French ornithologist, was the first to describe and name many American bird species. Tengmalm's owl, also known as the boreal owl, is found in both northern Eurasia and North America
