Venus, Lava Flow from Maat Mons
False-colour perspective view of Maat Mons, Venus. This image was constructed using plan-view data gathered by the Magellan radar-mapping spacecraft, and was enhanced and coloured by a computer using Magellan radar altimetry and previously-gathered photographic information. Maat Mons is an 8km high volcanic feature near the equator of Venus. This view is looking south from a viewpoint 560km north of Maat Mons at an elevation of 1.7km above the terrain. The side of the volcano and the terrain surface for hundreds of kilometres around are characterised by massive radar-bright lava flows
