Willam Caxton

This scene depicts William Caxton and a group of people examining the first sheet off Caxton's press. Caxton (c1422-1491) was England's first printer and published the first book in English, Recuyell of the Historyes of Troye around 1474 in the city of Bruges. He later established a press at Westminster and published England's first book, Dictes or Sayengis of the Philosophres
