Jessica Mitford
Jessica Mitford, 5th daughter of Lord and Lady Redesdale. When she was 19, Jessica Mitford eloped with Esmond Romilly, the nephew of Winston Churchill, to cover the Spanish Civil War. The couple emigrated to the USA in 1939. Esmond Romilly was killed in combat in 1941. Jessica Mitford remained in America and through her interest in communism met American civil rights lawer Robert Edward Treuhaft, whom she married in 1943
