The Southern Star newspaper, Montevideo

Front page of The Southern Star newspaper, or La Estrella del Sur, from Friday 8th October 1943, published in Montevideo, Uruguay, mostly in English with a small number of advertisements (and one article) in Spanish. The newspaper was named after an original bilingual paper published in 1807, and was aimed at British forces in Montevideo. The headline reads, Volturno crossed near Capua, Allies control all roads to Rome'. There is also another smaller headline reading, Hitler's War on Jews, even too much for Himmler with a report that Himmler and other high-ranking Nazi officials have been opposed to the persecution of the Danish Jews but that it had been carried out on special orders from the Fuehrer
