Drawing of a reassuring military figure with steel helmet
The caption reads, We want Rule and Order. The armed internal struggles which began in Germany before the First World War had ended, were symptons of the larger conflict between the ideologies of extreme left, centre socialists and extreme left. Each was struggling to fill the gap created by the collapse of the monarchy. Between these three fires were the ordinary people, caught in much the same way as those in Northern Ireland were between Loyalists, British Army and Republicans in the 1980s. This card was issued by the citizens of the 20th District of Munich in 1920. It is a plea for peace and quiet. Such conditions were a long way off
