Black Watch Memorial, Polygon Wood, Ypres Salient
The Memorial is at Black Watch Corner on the edge of Polygon Wood. The Corner was named after a fine stand by some 40 men of the Regiment under Lieutenant F. Anderson in November 1914. The larger than life kilted statue was sculpted by Edinburgh sculptor Alan Herriot. It commemorates more than 8, 000 officers and men killed and 20, 000 wounded in WW1. It was inauguarated on 3 May 2014 and is the only Black Watch specific Memorial of WW1
