Portrait of Dr Robert Ley
An early member of the Nazi Party, Ley stayed loyal to Hitler until the end. His background was working class and when Hitler disbanded the Trade Unions in 1933, Ley was appointed head of the new Deutsche Labour Front, the DAF. In that capacity in 1937 he invited the Duke and Duchess of Windsor to tour Germany and made the arrangements personally
