Ghostly soldier overlooks charging Italian Bersaglieri
The Bersaglieri, or marksmen, were an elite branch of Italian light infantry, first formed in Sardinia in 1836. They performed well in various campaigns before the First World War, by which time they were well known for their fast marching and elegant plumed hats. Mussolini served in the Bersaglieri as a private during the First World War and they always played a prominent role on ceremonial occasions. The card commemorates the l0Qth anniversary of their formation
