Grave of Lieutenant Den Brotheridge, Ranville Church
Brotheridge led the leading section from the gliders that had landed on the eastern side of Pegasus Bridge. They blew up the bunker beside the bridge with hand grenades, and dashed across towards the caf firing as they went. Brotheridge was fatally wounded in the neck and died near the caf. The grave here is in the CWGC extension in the churchyard and the Memorial Plaque was placed by the Gondree family who owned the caf. They recognised him as, the first English soldier killed at the Benouville bridge
