Dec. 12, 1966 - War Baby, Safe With Her New Mother. A young mother's long fight to adopt a Vietnamese war orphan ended happily at London Airport when she met her new daughter off a jet flight from Saigon. And as 31-year old Mr. Carley Brown cradled the 14-months old baby, Lucinda Caroline, for the first time she claimed she had pulled off the almost impossible'. Mrs. Brown, the English-born wife of a Irish businessman, od Delgany Co. Wicklow, decided three and a half years ago that she would like to bring up a Vietnamese baby with her own two children. But, she said : There is no proper authority to help people in Britain and Ireland adopt these unwanted Vietnamese children. Originally I approached a number of British charitable organisations operating in Vietnam but each time I drew a blank'. I got the impression they were interested in feeding 5, 000 children with a bowl of rice each week than in getting 50 or so over here to be cared for properly. But in October last year Mrs. Brown wrote to the British Embassy in Saigon and members of the staff sent her photographs of children available for adoption.
