Men at Yarrow Military Hospital
Men at Yarrow Military Hospital. These may be a mixture of staff and patients. None are wearing hospital blues though some have arm slings. Some have the RAMC badge on their arm. Sir Alfred Yarrow (1842-1932), shipbuilder and philanthropist, opened the home in c. 1895. In late 1914 the Committee of Management offered the Home to the military authorities as a military hospital, entirely staffed and paid for. This arrangement continued until c. August 1916 when the hospital was taken over by the Canadian military medical authorities. The building is now part of East Kent College, Broadstairs, Kent UK
