Fishergate Arch Preston Guild 1902

Decorative triumphal arch located on the entrance to Fishergate. The arch has the words 1902 A Hearty Welcome, above a shield with the Preston Lamb. The arch is decorated in lions and flags. There are tram lines in the middle of the road and a horsedrawn carriage is passing underneath. There are street decorations mainly consisting of flags and pedestrians are moving up and down the street. The Theatre Royal is shown on the right. There are advertising boards on the left. Drink Taylor Bros Pure Cocoa It is the Best is one of them and an advert for a Rupture Cure. Temporary Triumphal Arches were popular street decoration at Preston Guild. They helped to welcome people to the Guild at the main entrances to the town
