Guild dignitaries Preston Guild 1902

Group of male civic dignitaries or attendants in ceremonial dress like robes and bicorn and tricorn hats. The man seated is holding the gold mace which is silver gilt and is borne by the Mace Bearer. The other two maces are silver and are carried by the Sergeant-at-Mace on each side of the Mace Bearer. Seven men are standing. Two hold the halberds which are of ancient orign and when not being carried were traditionally placed either side of the door of the Mayor's residence. There is a brick wall as a background and a flag or banner with the Preston Lamb and Flag but this is largely obscured by the men
