2nd Bn Royal Ulster Rifles Memorial, Cambes-en-Plaine
The Battalion captured Cambes on 9 June 1944 in concert with the East Riding Yeomanry. The village was one of the strongest German positions on this part of the front and had already repulsed an attack by 9th Brigade on 7 June. The taking of this village secured the junction between the British and Canadian forces
