41 Royal Marine Cdo Memorial, Lion-sur-Mer, Normandy
No 41 landed at Lion-sur-Mer at around 0830 on 6 June 1944. They, unlike most of the amphibious assault forces, had not crossed the Channel in a large vessel but in LC(I)S - Landing Craft (Infantry) Small. They suffered greatly from the effects of the rough seas. This Memorial is in an area devoted to the memory of the Commandos
