59th Staffordshire, 3rd Canadian Div, RUR Memorials

This somewhat ungainly Memorial is in Cambes-en-Plaine. The Staffords plaque is on the left, the 3rd British Division is on the right and the Royal Ulster Rilfes plaque is at the bottom. The 59th was heavily involved in the final assault on Caen over 8/9 July 1944. Both Canadian and British 3rd and 59th Divisions claim to have been the first to enter the city, the latter from the north and the Canadians from the west
