Allied Forces Memorial, Golfe de Caen, Normandy
This truncated stone pillar has a simple bas-relief representation of the southern coastline of England and the stretch of beaches where the landings took place. Inaugurated on 4 June 1994 it carries the following message - On this site and along a 2 mile front line towards the west where many soldiers died, the British Army fought for 14 days. The memorial was erected by the village of Bieville-Berville as a tribute to all soldiers dead or still alive
