Austrian plebiscite propaganda card with swastika
A propaganda card encouraging Austrians to vote Yes for union with Germany, this issue was posted in Vienna on 9 April 1938, a day which had been designated by the Nazis as Day of Greater Germany'. Greater Germany was the name set aside for Germany after its absorption of Austria. The vote was due on 10 April, the day after this card was posted. The caption reads Austria comes home Less than three weeks later, Hitler gave secret orders to General Keitel, setting out Operation Green - the invasion of Czechoslovakia
