The International Federation of Trade Unions was founded in Amsterdam in 1919, when TUC member W.A. Appleton was elected President. Pacifism, rather than anti-Fascism, was originally the strongest principle of its socialist members and illustrates the fact that, should another war break out, their bosses should fight it without their support.
