Czech anti-German card with flag, children & soldier
In anticipaton of German aggression, the Czechs under President Edward Benes ordered partial mobilisation. France followed suit in support of Poland. By September 1938 they had mobilised 1 million soldiers between them to face any attempt by Hitler to invade Czech territory. War seemed imminent. This card welcomes Czech mobilisation in defence of their homeland. On the back is an adhesive stamp proclaiming Franco-Czech solidarity. It was posted on 29 May 1938. Four months later Neville Chamberlain was in Munich
