Dead soldier with rifle Spanish Civil War
The Spanish Civil War was a visible symptom of the ideological struggle between the political doctrines of extreme left and extreme right that had been set into violent motion by the Russian Revolution. Eventually Fascism won and in the process Hitler trained his army for war. In 1938 all the International Brigades were sent home and this card published in Barcelona, one of the last socialist strongholds, may be an acknowledgement of the government's debt to its unknown foreign friends who gave their lives for the cause. The caption says Before God none are unknown'.
