Dixmuide Town Hall and General Baron Jaques statue
This wonderfully Flemish design renovated building contains the Tourist Office, and outside in the square is the figure of General Jacques, who was Commanding the 12th Belgian Regiment of the Line which defended the town at the end of October 1914. On 25 January 1920 Dixmuide was awarded the Croix de Guerre by President Poincare for its heroic actions in the first days of the war, and in 1922 Mussonlini, presumably because of the fascist leanings of Flemish society, awarded it the Grande Croix dItalie
