Dramatic impression of Stuka Dive bombers in action

Perhaps the most dreaded product of the war in Spain was the dive bomber. Early bomb attacks from as low as 150 m (500 ft) were developed into accurate diving runs by the Junkers (JU) 87A and the Henschel 123. The aircraft in this picture are JU87A Stuka dive-bombers, which were used in Spain from 1937. Apart from the effecgtiveness of its weapons, the aircraft's angular appearance and high engine scream when in a dive added to the terror it inspired.
