The Execution Post Memorial, Poperinghe Town Hall
The post is in the courtyard at the back of the building. It is thought that 17 men were shot here, including Chinese Labourer Wang Chun Chih, who was executed for murder on 8 May 1919. The last sentence was carried out on 19 May. Four of the shot, Albert Botfield, William Symons, Herbert Morris and Lieutenant Eric Poole (the first officer to be executed) are buried in Poperinghe Military Cemetery. The cells in which the condemned were held can be visited and on the walls can be seen some of their last graffiti
