Fanciful charge by red hatted Italian Colonial soldiers

Another of artist DErcolis coloured flights of fancy, showing the 35th Colonial Battalion (motto: like a hawk after its prey) in action in Ethiopia. The three bladed sword carries the names of battle honours including Adua (Aduwa), the Ethiopian town captured by the Italians on 6 October 1935, just three days after their invasion began, and thirty nine years after a humiliating defeat there by native warriors
