The flames route is marked on the map behind the figure. It was Hitlers intention that the 1936 Olympic Games should demonstrate to the world the superiority of German blood and the wonders of the Nazi State. Hitlers objective was not realised for in direct rebuff of the Nazi theory of the superiority of the fair haired, blue eyed Teuton type, seven American negro athletes won gold medals. J.C. (Jesse) Owens won four golds, set two Olympic records and, with the 400 m relay team, broke the world record. The card has a printed title in German on the reverse: Propaganda card number 6 for the 1936 Olympic Games... proceeds to the Fund for German Sport.
