German General Student's HQ September 1944

The two German Officers that were charged with the defence of Holland were General Student and Field Marshal Model, and it was most unfortunate for the Allies that they happened to be in the area targetted by Market Garden when the Operation began. Kurt Student, Commander of the German 1st Parachute Army, not only watched the Allied drops, but by 1500 hours on 17th September he had in his hands a copy of the Market Garden orders taken from a crashed American glider. It is said that the double agent Lindemanns (King Kong) visited Student here at Vught on September 15th, two days before the Operation began, and brought with him his latest report on Allied troop movements
