The Cemetery, just outside Poperinghe, contains over 1, 500 Commonwealth and 37 German graves. There are also 22 WW2 burials from the withdrawal to Dunkirk. David Gallagher, of the 2nd Battalion Auckland Regiment, was killed on 4 October 1917 age 41. He was a former captain of the All Blacks rugby team
