Hitler, Daladier, Chamberlain & Mussolni play poker
This photomontage of the principal characters in the Munich drama shows them playing poker. It is a shrewd and accurate observation from neutral Switzerland of what happened. The hands held by the players can be made out using a magnifying glass. Daladier has shown his hand with the air of a participant rather than a winner, He has a full house, jacks on queens. Chamberlain obviously confident that things are going his way, has also exposed his hand. He has a straight flush, queen high, and so beats Daladier. Mussolini however has not declared his hand. He has four kings and so beats Chamberlain and Daladier. Hitler, totally relaxed, has certainly not let anyone know what his hand is, He is allowing Daladier and Chamberlain to have their brief moment of glory, but he controls the game - he has four aces
