Hitler, Goering & others at an airfield

At the head of this group of Nazi officers, walking across the airfield, are Hitler and Goering. The latter, a First World War pilot who had won the coveted Pour le Merite, was an early, steadfast, supporter of Hitler. In April 1933 he was appointed Air Minister, with Lufthansa head, Milch, as his deputy. Although most overt and covert development of Lufthansa was pioneered by Milch, when Hitler officially announced the existence of the Luftwaffe in March 1935, Goering was appointed to command it
