Hitler and the Olympic Games, Berlin stadium

Hitler is here seen leading a column of dignitaries across the field within the Berlin Olympic Stadium in 1936. Oddly, the terraces behind the column are empty, so this may have been a rehearsal for the event, which was intended to demonstrate to the world the superiority of the Master Race. The Nazis had learned very early on that detailed stage management was essential if the desired results were to be obtained from rallies and parades, and by 1936 they were masters of the art. The Olympic Stadium, now Headquarters of the British Forces in Berlin, was designed to seat 100, 000 people and a radio station was built in order to broadcast German victories to the world
