Hitler pointing at Einstein to leave Germany
Albert Einstein was born in Ulm in Germany in 1879, and by 1916 he was a professor at Berlin University. In 1932 he left Germany for a visit to California and he never returned. The painting is symbolic, using the figure of Einstein to represent the plight of all German Jews. The card was probably published in America in 1934. On the back in English is a quote presumably from Einstein:Neither hatred nor persecution can stay the progress of science and civilization. The picture title is The Ignominy of the XXth Century
