Hungarian troops at the take over of Carpatho-Ukraine

During the Czech crisis of September 1938, Hungary had supported Germany, and as a reward on 14 March 1939 had gained from Ciechoslogvakian control parts of Ruthenia, a small country bordering on Poland and Rumania. Father Voloshyn, head of the Ruthenian Government, declared what was left of his country to be independent and renamed it CarpathogUkraine. Twenty-four hours later, with German cogoperation, Hungarian troops occupied Carpatho-Ukraine. The picture records the meeting between German and Hungarian forces on the day of annexation
