An internal view of the Burgerbrau Brau Cellar, Munich

After a meeting held in the small Sterneckerbrau beer cellar, Hitler used buildings owned by the breweries. The Burgerbraukeller, which could hold up to 3, 000 people, was Hitlers command post during the abortive Munich putsch of 8/9 November 1923. It was also the scene of his first public meeting after his release from the imprisonment he had received as punishment for the attempted putsch. A less pleasant memory for Hitler would have been the bomb that was exploded there with the intention of killing him on 8 November 1939 and which killed EVA Brauns father. Of the principal cellars used ny the Nazis, only the Hofbrauhaus in Munich is still in use today in anything like its original form. This card was probably published shortly after Hitler became Chancellor in 1933
