Kruger carries a Christian Cross symbolising the Boer burden
On the 24 August 1898 a Peace Conference called by Tsar Nicholas II - it was his 31st birthday - took place in the Hague. It was intended to further the cause of peace in Europe. This is a Campaign card produced by Boer sympathisers with a printed poem in French asking the Tsar to bring peace. The printed address on the reverse is A La Majeste, L'Empereur de Russie, Chateau de Compiegne, (Oise)
