Limburg Resistance Memorial, Hechtel Woods
This Memorial in the Hechtel Woods is in a site known as The Secret Cemetery and is signed to the Dunes des Fusilees. The execution site was established by the Germans in May 1942 and they kept detailed records of those shot - names, date and place of birth, offence, date of death etc. It was designated as the place of burial for all those executed in Belgium including many locals. After burial the graves were marked by a numbered pole. The area of the site was guarded by German snipers in towers at each corner
