Memorial to Lt Birrell-Anthony, 1st Battalion, Monmouths
This private memorial is now maintained by the CWGC. It commemorates not only Birrell-Anthony but also the Officers and Men of the 1st Battalion who were killed in the Battle of Frezenberg Ridge on 8 May 1915 during Second Ypres. The three battalions of the Regiment that fought were so badly cut up that they had to be temporarily amalgamated into one
