Memorial to Luard's Own, Ranville Church, Normandy

This is grouped together with a number of other plaques e.g. to the Piron Brigade and the 1st Canadian Parachute Brigade, in a side Chapel. More commonly known as the 13th (Lancashire) Parachute Battalion, there is another memorlal to them at the village crossroads. The 13th liberated Ranville at 0230 on D-Day and the locals claimed that their village was the first. There is a plaque on the Mairie that makes the claim
