Memorial Plaque US 505 PIR, Neuville au Plain Normandy

The plaque was erected by the 82nd Airborne C47 Club and commemorates the action of Company D of the 2nd Battalion 505 Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, in foiling a German attack on Ste Mere Eglise. It also acknowledges the help of the French in tending the wounded. After Normandy the 505th shoulder insignia carried the text H-MINUS at the bottom because the Battalion jumped earlier than it should have done
