No4 Commando & Captaine Philippe Kieffer Memorials
These are alongside the beach at Ouistreham-Riva-Bella and the basic flame Memorial was erected in 1984 on top of a German gun cupola. Since then individual memorial stones have been erected to 10 of Kieffer's Commandos and to Kieffer himself. They were part of 1st Special Service Brigade which was tasked with clearing Ouistreham and then linking up with the Airborne forces at Pegasus Bridge - which they did by the end of D-Day
