No.45 RM Commando & Piron Bde Memorials

These, together with the local civilian Memorial in the centre of the image, are in a small memorial area opposite the Mairie at Merville-Franceville crossroads.Thirty five men of No.45 are remembered on the black marble stone at the extreme left as having been killed on 8 June. The grey marble stone second left commemorates the Allied Soldiers and the Civilians of Merville-Franceville who fell during June and July 1944. At the extreme right is the Memorial to two sergeants and two soldiers of the Piron Brigade killed on 18 August 1944
